The Finnish Ostomy Association
Finnilco, the Finnish Association for ostomates and correspondingly operated was founded in 1980.
We are divided in 18 regional organizations and 2 national organizations, one for the j-pouch operated and the other one for those who have analincontinence problems. We have approximately 3000 members (year 2009).
Finnilco aims to gather up ostomates and correspondingly operated or those who have analincontinence problems, together. All the basic ostomy supplies are free of charge for the ostomates in Finland.
Objectives:
- To support its members
- To monitor ostomates’ interests
- To give an opportunity for every ostomate to take part in adaptation training
- To provide information on living with a stoma, J-pouch or anal-incontinence
- To provide latest development and research results
